There are a range of volunteer services available and we are grateful to those volunteers who are working with us to assist in a variety of programmes. We appreciate the difference volunteers make and both our clients and the public benefit from our volunteers' contributions.

Volunteer visitors (AVS)

As an Accredited Visiting Service Visitor you will enhance the well-being and quality of life of an older person, complement existing services and offer the client an opportunity to build new links in the community. You need to commit to a minimum of 6 months (Counties Manukau) - 12 months (Auckland), spending quality time with your older person on a regular weekly basis.

Catering volunteers

We are always looking for volunteers to help with the set-up and pack-away for meetings and education sessions, as well as help with morning tea and lunches.

Admin volunteers

We are always looking for admin volunteers for to assist our receptionist with various tasks,  as well as covering the reception role on a regular roster basis.

Event volunteers

International Day of Older People - we hold a yearly event that we look for volunteers to help us out as a once off for the day.

Elder Abuse Awareness Week - we look for people each year to help us during Elder Abuse Awareness week, with help collecting donations, or placing collection buckets in local business / organisations.

The Vintage Store

Our charity store in Papatoetoe is on the lookout for reliable shop assistants both at the front and the back of the shop.

We are also always seeking good-quality second-hand clothes and furniture. All profits help Age Concern Counties Manukau run its various Elder support services.

Volunteer Handyman / Handywoman

The volunteer Handyman/ Handywoman assists with many common place jobs around the home; from changing a light bulb, to replacing a tap washer or hanging a picture, these smaller jobs can become impossible for older people with mobility issues, arthritis, etc.  This role is flexible and requires the person to be familiar with basic maintenance tasks.
