dignity, wellbeing, equity, and respect and provide expert information and support services in response to older people's needs.
Age Concern Auckland’s Intervention Service is a wraparound service that takes a holistic approach to the well-being of older people, and
supports their financial, physical, emotional, cultural and mental needs.We are looking for an experience Social Worker to work with our
Asian speaking clients. This is a full-time role, working 40 hours per week working across Auckland.
Key Responsibilities:
- A focus on the Asian communities.

Promoting the awareness of Age Concern Auckland's services with the principle objectives of reducing the incidence of elder abuse and
neglect, mitigating the detrimental impacts of loneliness and isolation, and promoting positive ageing.
- Providing information and advice in a culturally and linguistically appropriate way.

Working with older people (and their families and carers where appropriate) who have been referred to us including those due to suspected
elder abuse and neglect.

Providing education for those working with older people (including whānau/carers), students, professionals, or any other interested
groups.
- Raising public awareness about elder abuse and neglect.

Developing and maintaining mutually beneficial working relationships with agencies, professionals, people in the community, peers, and
national advisors.
Skills and experience:
- Registered qualified social worker with current practicing certificate.

Experience working in a not-for-profit or community sector and working with people from different backgrounds in a community setting.
- Fluency in both English and Mandarin, and some Cantonese would be useful.
- Able to take referral information and develop an assessment plan in order to provide appropriate support.
- Able to assess information and seek clarification and/or evidence where appropriate.
- Able to work within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to develop appropriate networks with our Asian communities.
- Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Full clean drivers’ licence
- Be a NZ resident or have a valid NZ Work Visa.

Social Worker (Across Auckland) – 1 year Fixed Term
Age Concern Auckland operates to meet the needs of people aged 65+ across the Auckland region. We are committed to

society.
The Intervention Team aims to move people from a position of vulnerability to one of resilience. The team is made up of: Social
Support Coordinators, Social Workers who respond to Elder Abuse cases, Counselling and Asian Services.
This is a full-time role 35-40 hours a week. As part of the role, you will be working with clients across Auckland. Our head office is
based in Avondale.
A big part of your day will be:

Working directly with older people (and their families and carers where appropriate) who have been referred to our services usually due
to suspected elder abuse and neglect.

Provides intervention services for older people who are, or who are at risk of, missing out on entitled support and services.

Gives information, advice, and support to older people, their families/whanau, carers and relevant others, to enable them to make
decisions that maintain the safety and autonomy of the older person.
- Undertaking holistic assessments, and developing with older people, individual safety and case plans.

Supporting older people and their families to use their strengths, support networks, and resources independently to develop greater
resilience and maintain a positive safe environment that optimises their wellbeing.

Applying your excellent case management skills, ensuring case noting is recorded in a concise, accurate, relevant and timely manner.
- As a team member, contributing to education initiatives that raise public awareness about elder abuse and neglect.
- Working collaboratively with other government and community agencies to provide the best outcomes for our clients.
We are seeking:

A registered qualified social worker with current practicing certificate with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in social
work (e.g. family violence desirable and experience managing complex elder abuse cases)

You will be able to accurately take referral information, assess and establish (in consultation with others), if abuse or neglect is
occurring.
- You will be self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of the team.
- You will bring experience of working successfully with people from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
- You will possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
- You will hold a current clean full driver’s license.
- You will have NZ residency or be holding a permanent NZ work visa.
