  • Aged 65 + or 55 + for Maori & Pasifika (as per Te Whatu Ora guidelines);
  • Live in suitable accommodation within the Auckland region;
  • Provide adequate, safe, clean, and well-maintained accommodation;
  • Commitment to the underlying values and principles of Homeshare and have a genuine interest in the lives and experiences of other people;
  • Willing to undergo a police check and the interview process;
  • Capacity to live in their own home and to share it with another person;
  • Benefit from social connections, friendship, and practical support;
  • Prepared to undertake a Homeshare arrangement for at least six months;
  • Aware of the time it may take to carry out all interview and matching procedures.


  • The ability to age in place with dignity and respect, in accordance with their wishes;
  • To remain in their own home whilst retaining their independence;
  • Assistance with daily living tasks;
  • Social connections and friendship to alleviate loneliness and social isolation;
  • Assistance in caring for household pets;
  • Additional security by having someone in  the house;
  • Increased community participation and connection;
  • Positive contributions towards their own healthy ageing;
  • Alleviate pressure on families and provide them with security and peace of mind;
  • The Sharer is a volunteer and does not replace any existing home care services that the Owner may be receiving.
